CAREN PICHARDO, M.D.
Biography
Dr. Caren Pichardo Casasnovas graduated Magna Cum Laude from her medical school at Universidad Iberoamericana in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She completed her pediatric residency at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, formerly Miami Children’s Hospital. She completed a fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Children’s National Medical Center, Washington, DC. During her fellowship, she completed research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), focusing on visceral pain experiments in colitis models. Dr. Pichardo has made contributions to publications on colonic pain behaviors and trends in pediatric acute liver failure. After completing fellowship, she worked at Unity Healthcare in Washington, DC, gaining expertise in managing an Obesity clinic and developed a special interest in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). She later earned a certification from the board of Obesity Medicine. She is board-certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Gastroenterology, and Obesity Medicine.
